We aim to cater for the complete novice groomer up to and including City & Guilds Level, which I am qualified to teach.

We can also offer bespoke training courses, giving you the opportunity to design your own grooming programme.

Intermediate Course - Cost £1200

This course will cover a range of breed’s with practical hands on experience, one to one guided tuition, including bathing, preparation work and basic clipping. Duration is one day a week over eight weeks.

Advanced Course - Cost £1500

This Level is designed for the more experienced groomer who is already in employment as a groomer or has completed other grooming courses. It’s a course that I describe as a real “learn to earn” of canine grooming.  This will focus on the whole grooming process, again with the same high level of one to one intensive tuition.  This will cover a wide range of breeds from start to finish, in a set amount of time that is labour and cost effective.  Help and advice is available on all aspects of starting a grooming business.

After teaching Dog Grooming to City & Guilds standards, I have firm and practiced methods of the best way of learning the trade.  It is more or less based on 90% practical experience, with a small amount of theory work covered.  At all times there will be a maximum of two students, so very much a highly focused method of one to one tuition is given. I am devoted to teaching to the highest of standards that I practice in my own work as a Canine Beautician contributing to the rising success of my own business Cottage Canine Grooming.

New Horizon's Course - Cost £3000

With Kate’s high intensity one to one tuition, this 20 day course is designed to give the student training, confidence and the business acumen to run a successful grooming salon.

Part one of the course includes:-

• Proper use of clippers, scissors, dryers and all grooming equipment.
  
• Bathing procedures, grooming out, de-matting, nail cutting, ear cleaning and care, hair trimming around the feet and pads.
  
• Basic clipping of a large variety of breeds.
  
• Introduction of a greater variety of breeds.
  
• Learning how to handle aggressive behaviour in dogs.
  
• Learning how to identify the appropriate trimming method for a particular type of coat and breed
  
• Applying the finishing touches whilst maintaining the highest of standards

Part Two of the course includes:-

• Guidance with setting up your business; from initial advertising, achieving a professional image, advice on purchasing cost effective equipment and working within a budget.
  
• Planning the design of your salon.
